Wine Glass Strobist Exercise

The wine glass is on black leather chair that is surrounded by large white cotton sheet from left, right and top. Single SB-600 is placed behind the chair so that it is reflected from the sheet. The SB-600 is triggered by disabled SB-800 that is with the camera.

I am not yet completely happy with this as the full size image shows some defects and the rim light is missing.

The Port of Kalama is celebrating a significant win for the Cowlitz region as it welcomes wine bottle manufacturer, Bennu Glass, to its growing industrial business community. Bennu Glass acquired the assets at the Port location previously owned by Cameron Family Glass Packaging and will be fully operational by mid-year, 2012.

Bennu, which serves the vibrant wine industry in Washington, Oregon, California, and western Canada, anticipates hiring up to 100 salaried and hourly personnel in the beginning of 2012 which is terrific news for ready and skilled local workers. At full capacity, the factory will produce over 100 million wine bottles per year, and will be in the market, as well, to hire numerous local and regional suppliers to serve the factorys demand for raw materials, supplies and services.

To restart the factory, Bennu will make a significant investment in the existing facility at the Port of Kalama which includes the installation of a new state-of-the-art oxygen-fuel furnace, said Jerry Lemieux, chief executive officer at Bennu Glass. The Port of Kalama offers exactly what we need to launch a successful manufacturing plant diverse modes of transportation, a location close to an international airport at PDX, and a ready, skilled workforce.

Bennu joins a growing number of industries and businesses who have found the Port of Kalama an ideal location to grow their businesses. The Port boasts a new Industrial Park and acres of shovel-ready land for manufacturing, technology, storage and many other uses. A 5-acre Marine Park stands out as a popular destination for both locals and tourists. Kalama is already banking on these features and more as it attracts new businesses to the amenity-rich industrial properties. Port officials cite several advantages for businesses like Bennu Glass to settle in Kalama including:

Business friendly environment

Affordable/competitive rates

Accessibility to all modes of transportation

Quality buildings, land on river/rail/Interstate

Collaborative environment

Quality of life, slow-paced, beautiful, quiet, hometown feel

Proximity to international airport at PDX — just 30 minutes away

We welcome Bennu Glass to our growing community of manufacturing and industrial businesses here, and the fact that they will be hiring from our local community is a boon to the whole region, said Lanny Cawley, executive director, Port of Kalama.

Tax incentive programs are in place and all begin with the word no–no state, corporate or personal income tax, no state personal capital gain tax, and no inventory taxes. In addition, any manufacturers locating or expanding to Cowlitz County are fully exempt from sales tax on construction and manufacturing equipment purchases. Thanks to Kalamas mild climate, construction can start anytime, all year round.

wine gifts online

We purchased the Groupon for “A Trek Through The Sierras”-a 4 beer tasting
flight from Sierra Tap House in Reno, NV. I purchased just 1 as a gift for
my husband. I’m not a beer drinker so I had a glass of wine while he
imbibed!

Little did we know that heading to Downtown Reno on The Ides of March would
result in being surrounded by “The brIDES of March!!!!”

What fun! The tiny, intimate bar filled with men and women decked out for
Burning Man-esque weddings. My dear darling jumped right in…and everyone
couldn’t have been happier!

Thank you for great Groupons and a great memory!

Best~

Question by Connie S: Wine Glasses?
I am planning a wine tasting party and need to purchase more wine glasses. How expensive should I go? and should I use a type of glass made for both red and white wines? Any advice would be appreciated!

I have 6 Lenox crystal White wine glasses

Answer by Great Gazoo -AM-
I wouldn’t get to carried away on price for a one time party. The crystal is really nice, but it isn’t going to make a bit of difference if you just have glass.

In the movie 88 minutes there is a black wine rack when Dr. Jack Gramm enters his apartment. It has three refrigerated wine cabinets on the bottom, two X shaped wine racks above, and in the middle a wine glass holder. I saw the movie and really liked this wine rack. Someone please help! Question by Cheryl B: How to I prevent my wine glasses from smelling like wood from my new cabinets?
I have quality new cabinets w/glass doors that I use for wine glasses. they always have the smell and taste of either the wood or finish. I have put spacers on doors so they are open a slight bit, but doesn’t help.

Time will solve this problem but in the mean time, you could put the glasses elsewhere, wash them before use, or install an under-hung rack for them and permanently move them to the bottom of a cabinet.
